Can it be February, 2013 already? I’m looking forward to a fun and festive guild meeting on February 14. Wear your favorite Valentine-themed sweatshirt or red and white so we can celebrate that special day. Your board has been working hard on setting up quilting events for this year. My main focus at this month’s meeting is to approve and pass the by-laws for the Silver Threads Quilt Guild. The revised by-laws, as per suggestions offered at last month’s meeting, have been posted on this site. Please take the time to read them as this will be our first point of business at the next meeting. Marie R. has graciously offered to serve as secretary/treasurer.
My second goal this year is to have everyone wear a nametag. The reason for this is that I want us to get to know each other. I have trouble with names and this will certainly help me. There will be a prize drawing each month for those folks who wear a name tag that you made and designed yourself.
My third goal for the year is to have fun, so I’m having a President’s Challenge this year. Announcements will be made about it at the next meeting. If you haven’t already taken time to peruse our blog, please take a minute to do so. On the right-hand side, there is a place where you can enter your email address and sign up to receive notifications automatically. This is a great way to have instant access to all the information you might want to know about the guild.
I’ll see you on the 14th!
Our spring workshop will be Saturday April 20th at the Moose Lodge from 9:00am to 2:00pm. We will be making a bag called “Projects to Go” which Carol will be teaching us to make.
I am excited about this bag as I know you will be, too; so please sign up at the meeting.
We had a total of 44 members pay and turn in their information sheets in last month. That is awesome. It is very important that we get our membership booklets and ID cards out as soon as possible; so, if you haven’t turned yours in, please complete the membership form and either mail it to me (my mailing address is in the guild membership booklet) with your check made out to Marie Robert or turn your payment in to me at our meeting. You can find a membership form on the blog.
I look forward to seeing you at our meeting, Happy sewing until then!
