What a fun time we had at guild last month and I’m looking forward to March! Did you know that March is the only month that has a command in it? March 4th (forth)! Get it? I’m sorry, but as a former U.S.A.F. officer, I did plenty of Marching forth.
How are you doing on your President’s Challenge block? I’ve had a few questions, but the challenge is to make a log cabin block of your choosing using bright colors and finish up at 12.5”. If you have to trim it to make the size, that is okay. It can be wonky or traditional, whatever you want it to be. And all those who make a block get a chance to win a gift certificate.
In February, Carolyn, Linda Frick, Veleta, Ruth, and I met at the First Christian Church to strip a few kits for charity. I was flabbergasted at the amount of fabric that is stored in bins over there. If you need fabric to make a charity quilt, just ask! I took some cowboy fabric home and made a quick quilt. Our challenge this year ought to be to pare that stash down into quilts and bags. Does anyone have a good bag pattern that is bigger than the one we used to make?
I’ll see you on March 14th and don’t forget to wear green! And, if you live in the city of Fort Walton Beach, don’t forget to vote on March 12!
