This month’s meeting was quite special for us as it celebrated the guild’s birthday. Before we get into our activities for the evening, let’s talk about the President’s Challenge for this month.
President Carol says, “This is the sawtooth star pattern for the President’s Challenge Block. It is the 6″ version; the star points are different from the center square. Use white muslin from your stash for the outer squares and the flying geese.” Here is the link to the instructions in our Resource section.
Checking in for our birthday celebration.
Platters of food began appearing—we certainly wouldn’t starve during our festivities. Instead, some of us waddled away happy as could be with the tasty treats (such as your newsletter/blogger person).
Then again, some of us can eat anything and stay slim—we like them anyway (LOL). The following are just a few photos of other members—we have so many wonderful and energetic quilters, that it’s awfully hard catching them with the camera.
Poor Jessie is almost buried in the midst of all the guild members’ birthday gift offerings.
Each of us waited for our number to be called and then had to choose which package to take—the delightful wrappings taunted us as to what mysterious gift was hidden within.
As you won a gift, you pulled the ticket number for the next hopeful winner.
Membership Chair Pam is getting ready for the birthday celebration drawing. Everyone who contributed a gift receives one in return. Look how stunningly coordinated Miss Pam is in relation to the drawing box—we rock and roll like that in our guild.
We have drawings for all kinds of reasons—it makes things exciting and enables us to share with each other.
On this particular night, bingo was on our birthday party slate.
You played to win new fat quarters to add to the eternal need for more stash fabric. You just know that the new fat quarter is the right touch for whatever project you’re pursuing—it’s magic the way that happens.
Buttons were used to mark our bingo cards.
Show and Tell was the final event of the evening. It’s always awesome to see what members have created and bring to share.
Here’s a bit of the extraordinary quilting on this wonderful quilt. We also thoroughly enjoyed seeing the following creations shared by guild members.
Happy Birthday, Silver Threads Quilt Guild!
