“There is no season when such pleasant and sunny spots may be lighted on, and produce so pleasant an effect on the feelings, as now in October.” ~ Nathaniel Hawthorne ~
Hi, Quilters! It’s fall and the best time of year to sew and finish some of those projects we’ve been putting off! I’ve been in contact with the groups to whom we donate quilts, stockings, and pillowcases and realize that the need is great. For instance, Children in Crisis service children from 7 to 18 years of age and will also keep those beyond 18 who are still in school. I wonder, once they finish school, where do they go?
Where am I going with this? I have several stocking kits that I brought home from the meeting that I need to complete. And I’ve got a pile of quilt tops that I could bat, back, and quilt so I need to get busy! If you have taken home a quilt kit for charity and can complete it prior to the next meeting—that would be great. If you have blocks or a kit and cannot work on them, please bring them back to the October meeting. We’ve done an amazing job of sewing this year and just need to push that last bit of effort to finish!
October 10 is our next meeting and your project quilts are due! Can’t wait to see all of your creations! And don’t forget our scheduled workshop on Oct 26 taught by our own June Scroggin. Learn the easy exploding pineapple technique, you’ll be amazed! If you can’t attend and want to buy the pattern book, let Carolyn Urquhart know.
Starting today, Lynda Richardson has about 150 bolts of fabrics on sale for $6.50 per yard and 1-yard batiks for $8.50. She also has some notions and patterns. The sale starts Tuesday, October 1, and will go through next week. Lynda is open Tuesday through Thursday from 10a.m. to 5 p.m. If you want to shop any other day, all you have to do is call to make sure she is there: 850 936-9678 or 850 207-8799.
See you soon and happy quilting! Carol
