President’s Report: Carol Stearns
Greetings! Our December guild meeting is our annual holiday celebration so please come early. The Emerald Coast Barbershop Chorus will perform for us at 6:30. This will really get us in the spirit of Christmas!
We decided at our last meeting in November to not have a gift exchange this year. We were all so moved by the presentation of the Charity groups in our community last month, we decided to invest in donations of food and personal items to those in need rather than exchange gifts.
The Board met Dec 2 and decided to concentrate on food donations and personal items for Sharing and Caring and Opportunity Place. You can go to each of their websites posted on this blog to find their suggested donation lists. The Board also voted to buy $100 of Burger King gift cards to distribute.

We will be playing bingo at the Christmas Party instead of exchanging gifts. Bring a pretty and festive fat quarter for each bingo card and buttons to mark your cards.
We’ve got lots of door prizes planned as well! Please come early to help us set up and to enjoy the Holiday music provided by the Emerald Coast Chorus.
Thank you for the vote of confidence to re-elect me as your President for next year. I have lots of fun things planned and am looking forward to it!
Your President, Carol Stearns

Sherrie Easom from The Sewing Center Around the Block was our featured speaker in November.
Sherrie showed us a technique using the Spare Change Ruler and instructions from the book Loose Change using 5″ and 10″ squares and fat quarters or quarter-yard cuts.
We also learned that we can blanket-stitch around raw edges which gives them a nice clean look. Sherrie recommends 30-weight thread at 1.5 stitches in length.

Pam Martin is planning on going to Paducah in April to the Quilt Show. She has a house reserved that is 30 miles from show. It sleeps 6 comfortably. If you Google Carol’s Hideaway Kentucky Lake, you can see pictures. It is right on the lake and actually is the lower level of a home—the the owners live upstairs. It is private and quiet.
It is 175.00 per night split up between us is a great deal. There are 4 spaces available if you are interested. Please let Pam know as soon as possible. If she doesn’t get anyone else to go, she’ll change her reservation to something smaller.
Pam says the group can drive up on April 22nd and leave on 26th. She will reserve an SUV, so there will be room for to carry stuff—or we can get 2 SUVs. If you are interested in going, please let Pam know.
