Show & Tell
Kerry Kastl has been working on a wonderful program for us for September
featuring Alma Moates who is a quilt appraiser living in Pensacola. Visit her website
to look at the programs she does.
Her fee is generous but she has agreed to reduce it for our guild if we can line up 10
Folks to have quilts appraised. She charges $45 per appraisal. I had her appraise two of my own quilts a few years ago at the Flying Needles Retreat and she is very knowledgeable. And I appreciated the information she gave me on these treasured items.
I think we owe it to ourselves as a guild to have someone special like Alma speak to us. We have worked hard the past two years, making charitable quilts, pillowcases and stockings and I would love to see us rewarded. We all enjoyed Karen from NanaGirl Quilts who spoke to us early this year and we did have to pay her to come over.
Please let me know by Tuesday, July 15, if you might have a quilt that you would be glad to have appraised by Alma. We can also contact Flying Needles to see if anyone would be interested from there. And then we can advertise in the newspaper if we need to.
Let me (496-1770) or Kerry (650-9611) know by Tuesday.
Members recovery from illness
Doris Bates fell and broke her hip and was in hospital. Not sure if she is still there or not. Her daughter will be bringing some things on Saturday to the workshop. June Scroggin had surgery to remove her thyroid on Monday, no cancer. She is doing well. I visited her yesterday. I sent Doris a card. Carol
SIT AND SEW ON SATURDAY
We have reserved the Moose Lodge on Saturday, July 19. It is short notice but please come and sew with us! I am working on pillowcases and stockings and maybe a charity quilt or two. We will have strips and fabric for strippy quilts! If you need some batting for a project, stop by to get some! Lunch will be provided by the guild. What better time to spend on a hot July Saturday than in air conditioned comfort with your sewing friends! Come and join us! Carol
