Silver Threads Quilt Guild – Meeting minutes, 9 June 2016
6:30 P.M. Meeting conducted by Pam Martin, President.
Membership Chair Patty Roof did birthdays and welcomed guests.

Block Swap – Pam M. won. Marie R. and Patty R. displayed their quilt tops from blocks from previously-won block swap.
Round Robin. Eight members showed current works in progress. Kathy R. won drawing for prize. Pam gave directions for this month.
Pam announced for July we won’t have a block lottery, but rather asked people to do a block for QOV. She gave directions for a half-log-cabin block. Use 6.5 inch square, then white 2.5 inch strip, then another 2.5 inch strip. The inner block and outer block will be opposites of red and blue (so red, white, blue). White must be WHITE, not cream, etc.
Sit & Sew Saturday at the church. Only about 4 people said they were coming.
Lyndell S. will be taking over the charity coordination/collection for the guild. Next month she will have small kits for charity quilt blocks.
VP Celeste shared applique tips.
Angel announced sign up for upcoming Sip Sit & Sew on Aug 13 at Twisted Grape in Shalimar. Free but meal purchase is expected.
Program: Lynda R discussed applique: raw edge, steam-a-seam, heat & bond, embroidery machine, reverse appliqué, use of monofilament thread, straight edge with matching thread. Veleta explained the Eleanor Burns technique to turn an appliqué piece (with interfacing) inside out. Kathy W discussed turned-edge applique.
This year’s Row By Row is themed “home sweet home.”
July program –bring something patriotic, red white & blue, Americana, flags, etc., that you made.
Opportunity drawing door prizes.
