SPOTLIGHT ON THE SEWING CORNER

SEW NEWS SPOTLIGHT ON THE SEWING CORNER

The Sewing Corner in Miramar Beach has been open since early summer.  I stopped there in late October and met with the owner Jeff Garrett.  Jeff and his wife Kathy purchased TJ’s Fabrics in Opp, Alabama this year and moved the shop and all of its wares to 73 Business Center Drive, Miramar Beach, Fl  32550.  The shop is spacious with a large room for educational purposes.

Jeff and Kathy own www.appliquecorner.com and the merger was perfect for them.  When you visit this site, it will direct you to www.thesewingcorner.com  for more information.  They have Brother machines and will be prepping a 15” Grace frame machine that they will rent out for quilting.

Their instructor and education coordinator is Margaret Tully who is known in the industry as the Serger Queen.  Margaret is at the shop on Thursday, Friday and Saturday’s.  In January, TJ’s fabrics online will close and merge into The Sewing Corner.

They have a beautiful array of fabrics and specialty patterns for clothing.  In the education room, there is a shelf of fabrics at 50% off and another shelf with older fabrics, some still at $8.99 a yard.

From Fort Walton Beach, it is at least a 45 minute drive so plan a day out with friends if you plan to go there.   Carol
